Why we love private tours of Scotland

There is so much to see and do in Scotland, the best way to make the most of your time here is to take a private tour. We love private tours in Scotland as they can be personalized to personal interests, whether you’re dreaming of exploring historic castles, touring and tasting at local whisky distilleries, playing the world’s oldest golf course, hiking to the Old Man of Storr on the Isle of Skye, or climbing Ben Nevis.

Our local guides have all the expert insight to bring places like imposing Edinburgh Castle to life. If castles are on the top of your list, there are so many it’s easy to create a castle-hopping itinerary that can take you everywhere from Stirling Castle to iconic Eilean Donan at the gateway to Skye. Harry Potter fans will be thrilled to ride “Hogwarts Express,” the Jacobite steam train featured in the films that travels across Glenfinnan Viaduct.

Best time to visit Scotland

Summer is the peak tourist season in Scotland as the busiest and warmest time of year with temperatures that average in the mid-60s in Edinburgh, while places further north like the Orkney Islands will be a bit cooler. Many feel that late spring and early fall are the best time to visit for thinner crowds and decent weather. May and early June can be ideal for hiking with comfortable temperatures around the upper 50s/low 60s. The crowds start to thin again around mid-September and in October you can enjoy autumn colors with the hills and mountains covered in brilliant hues of crimson, bronze, yellow, and orange.
