      Start your discovery of Madeira and the Azores in Funchal, the capital of the Madeira archipelago. Known for its stunning natural beauty, it’s backed by forest-covered mountains while boasting panoramic views of the bright blue Atlantic. You’ll fly into Maderia Airport (FNC) where you’ll see your driver waiting to greet you and provide a private transfer to Reid’s Palace, a Belmond hotel. Perched on a hillside among beautiful gardens overlooking the Atlantic, it has an outdoor pool, a lavish spa, and a highly acclaimed ocean-view restaurant.       Your guide will bring you on a private full-day tour uncovering Madeira’s highlights with your first stop a traditional fishing village, Camara de Lobos. At the Pico da Torre viewpoint, you’ll take in a panoramic view of the highest sea cliffs in Europe, soaring more than 1,900 feet. Another incredible view awaits from the top of over 3,300-foot-high Encumeada.       After checkout at Reid’s Palace, you’ll see our driver waiting to provide a private transfer back to Madeira’s airport where you’ll catch your flight to Ponta Delgada Airport on the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores. Upon arrival another driver will be there to welcome you, providing a private transfer to the 5-star Grand Hotel Açores Atlântico. This landmark hotel overlooks the Atlantic from a prime location near the historic center and includes an indoor pool. After you’ve settled in, the remainder of the day is yours to relax, unwind, enjoy the facilities, and perhaps take a stroll around town.

It’s best known for its large caldera with steep, approximately three-mile-wide walls, holding two breathtaking lakes: Lagoa Verde (Green Lake) and Lagoa Azul (Blue Lake).
