Enjoy the atmosphere of the converted 18th-century villa tucked into the top of the village. You might want to relax at the poolside, enjoy the views while sipping a glass of Barolo, or go a walk or jog through the extensive terraced gardens that surround the property. Today your private driver will take you into the Alta Langa hills, a rural corner of Piemonte where woodland, pasture and farmland roll out quietly in every direction. Your first stop is a local cheese farm, where you’ll get a genuine look at how the region’s cheeses are made before sitting down to a tasting lunch on site — a relaxed and unhurried affair that gives you a real sense of the local food culture.

In the afternoon you’ll visit a small producer of Nocciola Piemonte IGP, the hazelnuts that the Langhe area is known for. You’ll hear about how they’re grown and harvested, and finish with a tasting among the hazelnut groves themselves.

    • DAY 7

Piedmont: Barolo & Barbaresco wineries visit

Piedmont: Barolo & Barbaresco wineries visitPiedmont: Barolo & Barbaresco wineries visit image 2

This morning your private driver will take you into the heart of the Langhe, first stopping at a Barolo winery, where you’ll be shown around the cellars and vineyards by someone who knows them well. You’ll learn how the Nebbiolo grape is transformed into Barolo — often called the king of Italian wines — before sitting down to taste a selection of their wines. You’ll then make the short journey to the Barbaresco area, visiting a second winery for an equally hands-on visit. Though made from the same grape, Barbaresco has its own distinct character, and the producer will walk you through what sets it apart — in the vineyard, in the cellar and in the glass.

The rest of the day is yours to relax and enjoy your final evening in Piedmont.

    • DAY 8

      Piedmont to Lake Maggiore

Piedmont to Lake MaggiorePiedmont to Lake Maggiore image 2

Your stay is in Stresa, the lake’s main town, where your hotel overlooks the lake and the mountains beyond. The rest of the day is yours to unwind at your own pace. Enjoy a leisurely stroll along the lakefront promenade admiring the grand buildings and villas that line the lake shore, or retreat to the hotel’s rooftop bar, where you can enjoy a drink admiring the views.
