Where to visit in UAE
Our travel experts have collated their top recommendations of where to visit in UAE.
Dubai
Dubai is a safe and wealthy modern city, home to the world’s tallest building at more than 2,722 feet high, and it arguably offers the best shopping on the planet. In the center of Dubai Mall, the world’s largest and most visited, there’s an aquarium and underwater zoo where you can dive with stingrays and sharks. The Mall of the Emirates has its own indoor snow park where you can ski, board, toboggan or play with penguins. There are bustling souks to browse, and beaches to play on too, with fine white sands lapped by a warm azure sea along the east coast.
Abu Dhabi
The capital city, Abu Dhabi is just a short distance from Dubai but has its own identity. Growth has been slower here, allowing it to preserve more of its cultural and history which can be experienced by visiting the impressive Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque or Heritage Village. It also offers sandy beaches, excursions through rolling sand dunes, soaring mountains, waterparks, gourmet restaurants and shopping malls. Whether you want to experience the beauty of the desert or city attractions, it offers the best of both worlds.
Ali Ain
The cool oasis of Ali Ain is fed by natural springs and sits among date-palm plantations. Known as the Garden City, it was once a popular stop on the caravan route between the Gulf and Oman, and while it lacks the smattering of soaring modern skyscrapers, visitors can enjoy a laid-back atmosphere, several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, a well-preserved historic fort and popular family-friendly attractions like Wadi Wild Waterpark and a zoo. The camel souk is one of the highlights of a visit here, a daily bustle of hooves, humps, handshakes and haggling.
