Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 Venice: Arrival into Venice

Italy, Venice

Your enchanting 10-night trip through Italy begins with your arrival into Venice. You will be met at arrivals and guided to a private speedboat which will whisk you to your hotel in Venice.  Venice stretches across nearly 120 small islands in the Venetian Lagoon, nicknamed the “Floating City.” Upon arrival, you may want to take a historic gondola ride for a romantic view of the magnificent architecture. This evening join a walking food tour in the former Jewish Ghetto, the Cannaregio District, eating and drinking your way through regional specialities while learning about their kosher and Jewish influences.

Day 2 Venice: Venice Walking Tour

Ancient buildings in Venice

A guided walking tour will bring you to the highlights of Venice while revealing the history behind what you’re seeing. You’ll begin at St. Mark’s Square, visiting landmarks like Gothic-style Doge’s Palace and the adjacent San Marco’s Basilica, one of the finest surviving examples of Italo-Byzantine architecture, with marble floors, gold mosaics and an impressive collection of Byzantine art. See the Bridge of Sighs which has linked the building to the prison next door since the 16th-century and look out the same window medieval prisoners did before their execution. After your tour, enjoy lunch and then explore the city on your own.

Day 3 Venice: Explore at Your Leisure

Enjoy the day to yourself to discover Venice on your own.  Take it at a leisurely pace, perhaps starting with a bird’s-eye view of the city from the Campanile, its tallest building – on a clear day the vista stretches to the Dolomite Mountains. Other suggestions include renting a kayak to explore via the water, visiting a renowned museum like the La Biennale di Venezia art museum. Salizada San Moise and Le Mercerie are popular among luxury shoppers, while the Rialto Market is the place to go for foodies or anyone who wants to enjoy the city’s famously fresh seafood, with mantis shrimp a speciality.

Day 4 Florence: Culinary Tour

Transfer will bring you to the rail station this morning to catch the train to the regional capital of Tuscany, Florence. Upon your arrival, explore the many masterpieces of Renaissance architecture and art, like the Duomo with its stunning Renaissance dome and the Accademia Gallery Museum to see Michelangelo’s famous David sculpture. At Uffizi Gallery, you can marvel at works by Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. This afternoon brings a locally led walking culinary tour to learn more about Tuscany history while sampling delicious eats like truffle panini at the best city markets, coffee, and gelato shops. Finished with Chianti or chilled prosecco.

Day 5 Florence: Wine Tasting and Tuscany Tour

A day trip to explore the tranquil Tuscan countryside brings you to the Chianti region, stopping at UNESCO-listed San Gimignano, a classic medieval village famous for its dry white Vernaccia wine and its 13 surviving medieval towers that create a stunning skyline visible from the surrounding countryside. Explore the enticing squares and landmarks before sipping coffee in one of the open-air cafes. Visit a typical Tuscan winery in the Chianti Classico region where you’ll get a tour of the vineyards and cellars, along with a Tuscan lunch and wine tasting. You’ll explore Sienna and finish your day by visiting Monteriggioni’s medieval fortress.

Day 6 Amalfi: Amalfi Coast Sunset Boat Tour

Enjoy breakfast before continuing to your next destination taking private transfer to the train station where you’ll head to Naples before transferring to your hotel along the Amalfi coast, renowned as one of the world’s most beautiful coastlines, dotted with medieval cliffside villages overlooking the glistening blue sea below. This afternoon, embark on a sunset boat tour, cruising to Positano where homes look as if they’re tumbling into the Tyrrhenian Sea. Sip Prosecco and enjoy light aperitifs along with snorkelling, swimming or just relaxing among the incredible scenery. Disembarking in Positano, enjoy a romantic dinner with sea views before returning to Amalfi.

Day 7 Amalfi: Capri and Anacapri Excursion

This morning a scenic drive on the Sorrentine coast brings you to Sorrento port where you’ll cruise on a hydrofoil to Capri Island, which the ancient Romans once used for their summer villas. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided walking tour of the most popular attractions, including the ruins of those ancient Roman villas, the main harbours and the beautiful villa-lined promenade with its spectacular panoramic views. You’ll travel up the hill to enjoy Augustus’ Garden, the Piazetta and Anacapri, and the best view of Faraglioni Rocks. Before returning to Amalfi, explore the sea cave, Grotta Azzura, and enjoy relaxing on the beach.

Day 8 Rome: Colosseum Walking Tour

Rome, Italy

Catch the high-speed train to Rome this morning. After checking into your hotel, enjoy time to wander on your own, perhaps strolling through the vibrant greenery at beautiful Villa Borghese Gardens. A walking tour this afternoon brings you to the Roman Colosseum where you’ll learn all about the history of the Roman Empire, including famous figures like Emperors Nero and Augustus, and Julius Caesar, as you step back in time in this remarkable ancient theater. Afterwards, visit the nearby Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, before walking along ancient Roman Via Sacra street to marvel at multiple temples and the ancient Basilica Julia and Aemilia.

Day 9 Rome: Vatican and Classic Rome Tour

An exclusive six-hour tour covers some of the best of art and history in the area, starting at the Vatican City’s museums where you’ll see the Sistine Chapel and Michelangelo’s breathtaking works, as well as St. Peter’s Basilica, and the spectacular Raphael Rooms. Just a few of the other highlights include the Gallery of Tapestries, Gallery of the Candelabra, and the Pio Clementio Museum. While getting close to countless iconic Renaissance pieces, you’ll learn the untold stories behind the masterpieces. Afterwards, continue to visit the most significant landmarks in Rome like Trevi Fountain, Palazzo di Montecitorio and the Pantheon, finishing at Piazza Navona.

Day 10 Rome: Day of Leisure

Your last full day will be spent on your own exploring the places that interest you most. Art enthusiasts shouldn’t miss Galleria Borghese, one of the world’s most magnificent art museums, located in Villa Borghese Park, set within a stunning 17th-century villa that features an incredible collection of Baroque art. The Monti neighbourhood is fun to stroll, with trendy boutiques and wine bars, while the Museo Nazionale di Castel Sant’Angelo offers lots for history and art enthusiasts. Or you could spend the day at nearby Ostia beach with its warm, clear blue sea for swimming and plenty of room on the sand for sunbathing.

Day 11 Departure Day

Rome, Italy

Enjoy a cappuccino with breakfast this morning, savouring those last moments in the Eternal City before taking private transfer ack to the airport to catch your return flight home. If you don’t have to leave just yet, our travel experts will be happy to extend your time here or elsewhere, with many enchanting, easy-to-reach destinations from here.
