Starting from Cape Town, head to the top of iconic Table Mountain and then sail in an authentic replica pirate ship. Tour the Cape Peninsula, enjoying close encounters with penguins and more, before heading out on a tour of the Cape Winelands for wine tasting and kid-friendly activities. Explore the ocean wildlife, meet some meerkats and embark on a safari to see the remarkable wildlife at Kwandwe Private Game Reserve, among many other fun excursions.

Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 Cape Town Arrival
Your family adventure through South Africa begins with your arrival into Cape Town International Airport. You’ll be transferred to your accommodation to get settled in and refreshed before spending the rest of the day at your leisure. Our suggestions for the afternoon are – visit the Two Oceans Aquarium, shopping for arts and crafts at the large Watershed Market, or embark on a sunset harbor cruise. This evening, dine with a sunset view from one of the family-friendly beach bars.
Day 2 Cape Town
This morning you will take the cable car to the top of Table Mountain. This afternoon, sail around the bay in an authentic replica of the Jolly Roger pirate ship, returning in time to take a ride on the Cape Ferris Wheel (optional) wheel at sunset.
Day 3 Cape Peninsula Tour
Get an early start to your day which begins by watching for baboons, Cape mountain zebra and other wildlife at Cape Point. Journey north to Simon’s Town for a seafood lunch (excluded), then explore the African penguin sanctuary at Boulders Beach for a close encounter with the sea birds before paddling out in a sea kayak to watch them dive for their meal. The tour is tailor made to your families interest, some suggestions for the afternoon include – visit the farm animals at Kommetjie Imhoff Village, play paintball, go horseback riding on the beach, or take a coastal train ride.
Day 4 Winelands Tour
Venture into the Winelands countryside, driving through orchards and vineyards to Franschhoek, with your first stop Babylonstroen Winelands and Gardens. Tour the garden, enjoying an immersive experience smelling, tasting and touching the herbs, vegetables and fruits. Next visit Boschendal wine farm, with its free-range chickens, forest-fed pigs and grass-fed castle grazing among the fruit trees. The kids will enjoy farm learning experiences at the educational play center while you enjoy wine tasting in the cellar. This afternoon you will drive to the coastal town of Hermanus for the night.
Day 5 Hermanus
This morning is free for you to explore Hermanus, you can go on a marine cruise to explore the oceans wildlife, in season there are whales in the bay. You may choose to enjoy the stunning Grotto Beach and lagoon that Hermanus is famous for. You will then drive inland to Outdshoorn, the country’s enchanting desert space.
Day 6 Outdshoorn
Begin your day before dawn with an optional visit to a game reserve for a meerkat encounter. The reward for early risers is interacting with local meercats. Eat breakfast while watching the meercats go about their business, and then journey to the home of South Africa’s largest sand dune in Mossel Bay. Take an optional private sandboarding lesson or rent a sandboard to cruise down the slopes. Lunch at a local strawberry farm is next – the kids can pick strawberries, bike, or navigate the hedge maze. Continue to seaside town of Knysna, checking into your hotel for the night.
Day 7 Kwandwe Private Game Reserve
Enjoy breakfast along the seaside before the drive to Kwandwe Game Reserve where the Big 5 and other animals freely roam the landscape. Children receive special welcome packs on arrival full of things to help them make the most of their safari. You might sign the kids up for one of the many kid-friendly activities on offer at your family orientated lodge. After checking into your accommodation, get settled in and then join an evening game drive followed by a traditional African style boma dinner. Special children’s menus are available. Tonight, you’ll fall asleep to the exotic sounds in the bush.
Day 8 Kwandwe Private Game Reserve
Today you can enjoy game drives are available to spot animals like giraffes, elephants, lions and leopards, and you can enjoy a guided bushwalk to learn about tracking animals and more while watching for wildlife like herds of wild buffalo. There are family scavenger hunts in the reserve and the rangers are available to show the kids how to track animals. Child minders are complimentary.
Day 9 Departure
After enjoying breakfast this morning, you’ll take transfer to Port Elizabeth to catch a flight to either Cape Town or Johannesburg for your connecting flight home.
