Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 Paris: Arrival into Paris, France

France, Paris

Paris attracting millions every year to enjoy its romantic atmosphere, fine cuisine, rich culture, and iconic monuments. This is where your trip will begin, with your private driver meeting you upon arrival for transfer to your accommodation in the city. Once there, drop off your luggage and go exploring. There are many unique boutiques, museums, galleries, and cafes to visit. This evening is ideal for taking in a panoramic view from the top of the iconic Eiffel Tower that rises 1,050 feet above the city streets. Book your tickets online in advance or climb the 700+ stairs to the second floor, no pre-booking needed.

Day 2 Paris: Ile de la Cité and Latin Quarter Walking Tour

A two-hour walking tour of Paris begins your day, including a visit to the Ile de la Cité and spectacular 12th-century Notre Dame Cathedral, considered to be one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture in the world. Your knowledgeable guide with a passion for history will reveal the details behind them. Next, discover the lively Latin Quarter where you’ll stroll some of the city’s oldest streets and visit the neighbourhood’s most bookstore and famous intellectual hotspot, Shakespeare & Co. Day 3 Paris: Louvre Museum Tour

Enjoy a relaxed morning, perhaps heading to a cafe to sip a café au lait and indulge in a croissant before exploring the streets to check out the boutiques and other shops. Afterward you’ll meet your expert guide for a two-hour exploration of the famous Louvre Museum, the world’s largest, with its countless masterpieces. With so much to marvel at, you’ll appreciate having a guide at your side to show you the highlights, including the Mona Lisa and impressive works by the ancient Greeks like the Venus de Milo statue. Get some fresh air by exploring the Tuileries Gardens just across the street too.

Day 4 Paris: Le Marais Walking Tour

Day 5 Lyon: Explore at Your Own Pace

It’s time to say au revoir to Paris and travel to the country’s capital of gastronomy. Private transfer brings you to the station where you’ll catch a direct train to Lyon. After checking into your hotel, you’ll have the rest of the day to explore this spectacular compact city on your own. Begin in the UNESCO-listed Old Town and the Presqu’île, the heart of the city extending from the foot of the Croix Rousse hill to the confluence of the Rhone and Saoine Rivers, where you can wander the cobbled streets and hidden passageways, discovering cafes, eateries and luxury shops.

Day 6 Lyon: History and Culinary Tour

Enjoy a walking tour of Lyon’s history and fabulous food scene with a local guide, exploring the Saone’s historic right bank with its impressive Renaissance architecture with the route also featuring tasting experiences along the way. Enjoy the flavours and the marvellous buildings, squares and streets that were significantly influenced by Italy, making you feel as if you’ve been transported to the Middle Ages. After your tour, take time on your own to enjoy Lyon. Check out the outstanding shops, world-class museums and buzzing bars, thanks to the city’s thriving population of students, with some 150,000 currently living here.

Day 7 Lyon: Beaujolais Tour

Beaujolais, France

Meet your guide after breakfast for a private tour of the wine-growing region and historic province of Beaujolais. Just north of Lyon, hilltop villages are dotted across the landscape that is often compared to Tuscany. Drive through the picturesque countryside to the southern area of the province, renowned for the golden stone that gives it a unique, distinct charm, and its Beaujolais Nouveau. Along the way, your driver/guide will talk to you about the reasons for his or her passion for this beautiful region. You’ll meet with a local winemaker, get an intro to wine and enjoy a wine tasting too.

Day 8 Avignon: Transfer by Train from Lyon

Continue this memorable trip by transferring to the rail station and catching a direct train to Avignon. After your arrival, you’ll pick up a rental car right at the station. The day is all yours to discover this medieval city where the Pope lived during the 14th century. Don’t miss touring the massive Palais des Papes. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it’s the largest Gothic palace in history. A tour brings the chance to visit the beautiful frescoes that lie inside the popes’ private apartments. Visit the medieval bridge that crosses the Rhone River and spend time in the picturesque squares.

Day 9 Avignon: Wine Tasting and Chateauneuf du Pape Tour

Another one of France’s world-famous wine-grown regions is on the agenda today. You’ll get to tour the southern Rhone Valley, visited a Provence appellation known as Châteauneuf du Pape which produces white and red wines using up to 13 different grape. Its bold Grenache-based blends are what it stands out for. Take a stroll through the vineyard with a wine expert to learn about the specific terroir, like the origin of the soils and the link between climate and the various grape varieties. Also included is two tasting sessions at two different family-run wineries before making your return to Avignon.

Day 10 Aix-en-Provence: Explore Provence

Aix-en-Provence, France

Explore the Provence region on your own as you head toward your next destination: Aix-en-Provence. We suggest an incredibly scenery drive toward the Alpilles, a chain of limestone mountains bringing panoramic vistas stretching across the entire region. Some of the stops you might make include Les Baux de Provence which sits atop a rocky outcrop crowned by a citadel and Glanum’s ancient Roman site. In the adjacent Luberon you’ll find hills covered with lavender fields, oak and olive trees along with breathtaking hilltop villages like Gordes. Upon arrival to Aix-en-Provence, walk in the footsteps of famous post-impressionist painter Paul Cezanne.

Day 11 Aix-en-Provence: Provencal Cooking Class

The perfect way to delve into French food, today you’ll join a Provencal cooking class that will allow you to bring some new culinary skills home. Start by meeting your host/chef who will accompany on this small group tour to the food markets in the Old Town. You’ll pick up some fresh regional produce while meeting some of the vendors along the way, bringing back the ingredients that will make up a feast. Help your host prepare the dishes, ending by enjoying conversation as you share and taste the delicious meal together. Afterward, enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 12 Nice: Explore On Your Own

A scenic drive along the French Riviera will bring you to the beautiful seaside city of Nice, a retreat for the wealthy since the 1800s. Today you’ll find magnificent architecture, fantastic markets and world-class dining. Explore Vieux Nice, the Old Town, with its enticing narrow lanes and landmarks like the Opera House, Palais du Justice and Cathédral Sainte-Réparate. From the popular daily market, Cours Saleya, make your way to the Promenade des Anglais along the bayfront, lined with amazing cafes. Stop to enjoy the pebbly shoreline and Mediterranean views, perhaps finishing the day at the port with a sunset cocktail.

Day 13 Nice: Grasse Perfume Tour

Grasse, France

Your final full day is all about perfume. Drive north to the village of Grass, the world’s perfume capital, exploring the historic center where vendors and shops sell regional culinary specialties like olive oil, truffles, honey, figs and wine. Visit a perfumery where you’ll take a guided tour that includes a lesson on what makes a good perfume, including an evaluation of your own olfactory sensitivities. You’ll get an understanding of the basic principles for creating a formula before making your own unique fragrance. You’ll get to choose its name, take it home, and your special formula will be preserved for future orders.

Day 14 Departure

France, Nice

While it’s also difficult to end such a fun and interesting trip, after two weeks in the beautiful country of France, it’s time to depart. Of course, you’ll have many memories, along with photos and interesting souvenirs, like your own perfume and Provencal cooking skills to bring with you. Private transfer will meet you at your hotel, bringing you to the airport to catch your flight home.
