Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 Madrid: Arrival into Madrid

Your enchanting journey begins in the Spanish capital. After touching down at Madrid’s airport you’ll be met by private transfer for a seamless transition to your hotel. After taking time to refresh, stretch your legs after the flight by doing some exploring. You might want to enjoy people watching in one of the city’s most historic plazas, Puerta del Sol and then check out the fantastic culinary scene with countless mouthwatering options. There are many things to do after dark, from catching a play at the Broadway-like Gran Via theater to enjoying a live show at one of the many music venues.

Day 2 Madrid: Private City Tour

This morning you’ll meet up with an expert local guide for a half-day tour of the city. Discovering its rich history that can be seen throughout the architecture and beyond. Marvel at the 16th-century Madrid de los Austrias which hosts Plaza Mayor, one of the most impressive plazas in all of Spain. You’ll tour the Royal Palace which includes an astounding 3,400+ opulent rooms. See Charles III’s bedchambers, the Royal Chapel, Hall of the Crown and the gorgeous grounds. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure, perhaps a visit to the magnificent Jardin de Vivaces garden in El Retiro Park.

Day 3 Seville: An Evening of Tapas and Flamenco

Continuing your adventure to Seville, private transfer will bring you to the rail station where you’ll take the train. After arriving into Seville, another driver will bring you to your hotel where you can get settled in and relax before enjoying a special evening of tapas and authentic flamenco which was birthed here in the Andalusia region. Start by joining your guide to visit two family-run taverns where you can sample traditional tapas like a local paired with tasty local wines. You’ll learn more about flamenco just before experiencing the real thing in a 15th-century building in the historic Santa Cruz neighbourhood.

Day 4 Seville: Private City Tour

Seville

Enjoy a full day in Seville, beginning with a private city tour. Your local guide will bring you to the 15th-century Seville Cathedral, the world’s largest gothic church, home to Christopher Columbus’ tomb. You’ll also see La Giralda, the soaring bell tower that was originally constructed as the minaret for the 12th-century Great Mosque used when the region was ruled by the Moors. Take a stroll through the former Jewish Quarter now the hip Santa Cruz neighbourhood, a lively part of the historic center with lots of tapas bars, cafes, shops are markets with beautiful artisan-made products. After your tour, relax in your hotel or continue exploring on your own.

Day 5 Cordoba: Private City Center Tour

This morning you’ll continue to Cordoba with your private driver. After checking into your hotel you’ll enjoy a private guided tour of its many remarkable sights, including the magnificent Mosque-Cathedral known as Mezquita, once a pagan temple that was transformed into a mosque before being converted into a Catholic church. Visit the 14th-century Alcazar de los Reyes where the Catholic monarchs granted Christopher Columbus approval for what would become one of the most famous voyages in history. Take advantage of the many photo-ops here, including the fish-filled ponds, terraced gardens, orange trees and flower beds. If you’d like you can wander through the historic Jewish Quarter’s narrow streets too.

Day 6 Cordoba: Andalusian Olive Oil Tour

A day trip will bring you into the countryside outside of Cordoba with your driver/guide where you’ll embark on an olive oil excursion. Spain is well-known for its high-quality olive oil and you’ll get an exclusive tour of a historic Andalusian olive oil estate to watch the olive oil-making process firsthand. In the 17th-century it was here that Herando Columbus, son of Christopher, started exporting the oil to the New World. You’ll see the 16th-century olive oil presses as well as the modern working presses where you’ll learn more about the process today, concluding with an olive oil tasting.

Day 7 Ronda: Boutique Winery Visit

Travel south with your private driver to ancient Ronda, a beautiful city carved out of a mountain that dates back to the 6th-century. One of the most unique places in Spain, it’s renowned for its beauty and its wine. After getting settled into your accommodation, head to a boutique winery with the cellars inside an ancient chapel of a former monastery. An oenologist will provide an informative private tour that reveals the long traditions and time-tested methods of the winemaking process, ending with a tasting of several wines. Afterwards, discover the landmark’s in Ronda’s well-preserved historic center that includes a bull ring.

Day 8 Granada: Hiking in Ronda + Transfer to Granada

While your destination this evening is Granada, you’ll begin your day with a scenic hike. There are numerous routes just outside the city that will bring you to some spectacular scenery, most of which are short, easy treks that take just an hour or two to complete. You’ll see olive groves and local farms, and from the ridges, gorgeous views of Ronda and the valley. Afterwards, enjoy a picnic lunch with seasonal produce. Your private driver will then bring you east into the Sierra Nevada Mountains, delivering you to your accommodation in Granada, one of Southern Spain’s most stunning and most historic cities.

Day 9 Granada: Alhambra Palace Tour

This morning you’ll visit the top attraction in Granada on a private tour, Alhambra Palace. A massive palace and fortress complex, this UNESCO-listed site sits atop two adjacent hills and includes three original palaces. The medieval part of Granada, it’s the world’s only preserved palatine city from the Islamic period. Tour the grand halls, tranquil courtyards, royal chambers and Generalife Gardens which features colourful flowers, pools, fountains and a breathtaking view of the city below. After your tour, enjoy exploring on your own, perhaps wandering the maze of streets in the Sacromonte and Albayzin quarters, some of its most well-preserved historic neighbourhoods.

Day 10 Barcelona: Cycling Tour

Continuing your journey to the final destination on your itinerary, you’ll take private transfer to the airport to catch your flight to Barcelona. Upon arrival, a private driver will meet you to bring you to your hotel. Take time to relax and then embark on a cycling tour of the city. The three-hour tour will bring you through the medieval Gothic Quarter viewing rich historic sites that include Roman ruins, the 13th-century Barcelona Cathedral and Placa Reial. From there head to Ciutadella Park and Barceloneta Beach, the city’s main beach, a lively stretch with a waterfront promenade, restaurants, cafes, beach bars and nightclubs.

Day 11 Barcelona: Visit Park Guell & Sagrada Familia

A half-day tour, led by a local guide will bring you to marvel at renowned Catalan architect Antonio Gaudi’s most impressive work, Park Guell and Sagrada Familia. Begin at the park which is spread over 42 acres on Carmel Hill, bring many vantage points for spectacular views of the city along with fascinating buildings that showcase the boundary-pushing modernist style Gaudi is known for including a magnificent dragon adorned in brilliant colorful tiling. Sagrada Familia is an iconic Roman Catholic basilica. It was constructed in an impressive mix of art nouveau, gothic and Catalan-modernism styles. After lunch enjoy time to explore on your own.

Day 12 Departure

Barcelona

Your 11-nights highlight tour concludes today, which means saying goodbye to Barcelona, although you may have some time this morning to do some last-minute shopping or simply savouring the final moments with a stroll through the city, depending on when your flight or train reservation is scheduled. When it’s time to go, you’ll be picked up by your private driver for transfer, beginning your journey back home or for further travels.
