Life on Board

Custom-built to take on the extreme conditions of Antarctica and beyond with exceptional stability and comfort on ocean crossings, the Sylvia Earle is a splendid expedition ship, perfectly suited to journeys deep into the Polar extremes. Bright, spacious rooms look out onto glorious Polar views through floor-to-ceiling windows, and the ship’s inverted bow gives you every opportunity for observation with expansive observation decks that bring passengers closer to the stunning Polar environments. Much like its namesake, the Sylvia Earle has a distinct focus on marine education and conservation with a state-of-the-art science center that provides a space for citizen science, enabling guests to help with research tasks and attend informative talks and lectures.

Each sail begins with an informal multi-course Captain’s Dinner, perfect for getting to know your crew of expedition guides, marine researchers, scientists, and conservationists, each eager to help you get the most out of your trip. A maximum of 132 passengers makes life on board the Sylvia Earle uncommonly companionable, the small passenger count allowing for quick disembarkation, creating extra time for off-ship adventures such as kayaking, polar skiing, snowshoeing, and exploration by Zodiac, carrying you directly to the heart of the destination.

Cabins

Almost every cabin has a furnished balcony or Juliette balcony, finished to the highest standards, with a modern aesthetic captured in conveniences such as USB sockets and minimalist decor – including a lounge in the luxurious Captain’s Suite and the Superior Balcony room, and floor-to-ceiling windows, ideal for spotting languid Polar vistas just beyond the ship. Each spacious cabin has a pair of free binoculars for sighting wildlife and far-off land, a minibar, and a roomy en suite, while others come bundled with spa treatments. For group travelers, connecting cabins can be booked as one stateroom for up to 6 people.

Facilities & Public Areas

State-of-the-art public areas include lecture facilities with naturalists and local specialists delivering talks on their areas of expertise, as well as a science center led by the ship’s expedition team, and a sanctuary-like library to help bolster your knowledge. The dining area operates 24 hours a day and provides an ideal locale for soaking up the post-expedition thrill while relaxing with wine over dinner. There’s a bar and lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows offering stunning views as a backdrop to the convivial atmosphere at the bar. On deck seven, a swimming pool and two jacuzzis boast immersive views of the outside world, while a sauna, spa, and gym provide yet more space for relaxation. Every convenience is included, down to a mud room that doubles as a launchpad for activities and a place to store your gear (away from the cozy luxuries of your cabin) after a day’s adventure.
