Let Us Plan Your Travel to Singapore and Malaysia

Covering a large chunk of the stunning Malay peninsula, Singapore and Malaysia make a perfect South East Asian travel pairing with cosmopolitan cities fading into antique towns, stunning beaches home to luxury beachside resorts and backpacker hangouts, and craggy mountains hiding the scattered fragments of beguiling ancient cultures.

The cityscape of Singapore is unforgettable, particularly the outstanding Marina Bay Sands, and the Supertree Grove vertical gardens that lend the topography a uniquely futuristic appeal. But there are world-class museums, old shophouses in Katong, colorful Indian sights in Little India, magnificently modern hotels almost everywhere, a legendary food scene that spans the world with influences from the Malays, Indonesians, English, and Portuguese, as well as dreamy beaches on Sentosa Island.

Travel along the heavily indented western coast of the Malay peninsula to find the delightfully pretty Malacca and its handsome historic center, and eat fiery Nyonya cuisine at the Jonker Walk Night Market. From here, travel north to Penang to scoop up the ambiance of ancient temples lingering beneath soaring towers and indulge in the excellent food scene. There are also jungle walks peppered with views and scores of exotic wildlife and phenomenal tea-scented walks through the breathtaking Cameron Highlands.

Suggested Itineraries for Singapore and Malaysia

Our experts know Singapore and Malaysia like the back of their hand and have travelled extensively around the country. We have put together some trips and tours to get you inspired.

Where to Go

  • 670 x 400 Singapore

    Singapore

A delightful contrast of cultures, best witnessed in the sharp lines of modern skyscrapers juxtaposed by the tidy rows of shophouses, fusing a cocktail of Asian and European influences unique to Singapore. See the sights via the wonderful MRT, sample the culinary delights of China Town and Singapore’s iconic Hawker Houses, and breathe in the fresh air of the Botanical Gardens, before strolling amongst the colorful temples of Little India. Cross the Helix Bridge in search of modernist views and Michelli-starred restaurants, or escape the bustle to walk the trails in the lush Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.

  • 670 x 400 Malacca

    Malacca

This beautiful port city was once one of South East Asia’s biggest trading ports and today boasts a delightful mix of heritage and modernity. Its stunning historic center is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and hints of the city’s long trading past abound in the Dutch Red Square, the A Famosa Portuguese fortress, and the Chinese Cheng Hoon Teng Temple. Take a ride in one of the famously glittery trishaws adorned with Hello Kitties and lit by a generous amount of neon to tour the city at night, or ascend the Menara Taming Tower for vistas of the idyllic Malacca Strait.

  • Cameron Highlands 1

    Cameron Highlands

Travel north of Kuala Lumpur to one of Malaysia’s most serene walking destinations: the Cameron Highlands. Tours lead wildlife lovers through verdant tea plantations, across forested mountain tops, into remote hill tribe villages, and along golf courses to mock Tudor hotels serving up English afternoon tea with local leaves in pretty landscaped gardens — remnants from the British colonial period. Temperatures in the Cameron Highlands are more manageable (rarely above the mid-80s F) than in the big Malaysian cities, making the area a popular spot for restorative weekends immersed in its gentle nature.

  • 670 x 400 Penang

    Penang

A rousing kaleidoscope of cultures is found on Penang Island. Cosmopolitan George Town sits at its heart offering traditional Asian sights like the Pinang Peranakan Mansion, the Dharmikarama Burmese Temple, lively Little India, and the Kek Lok Si Temple, alongside a delightful food scene, traversing fusion street foods and harbourside restaurants cooking up the various elements of Penang’s colorful culture onto a plate. Modernity abounds with a fabulous art scene and vibrant carnivals, and there’s a recently modernized funicular that whizzes up the lofty Penang Hill for outstanding Malaysian vistas and walking trails through the lush interiors.

When to Go

670 x 400 Langkawi

Singapore and Malaysia have pleasingly consistent year-round weather with a tropical equatorial climate and temperatures generally hovering in the 80s F with dramatic but short-lived thunderstorms not uncommon throughout the year. The rainy seasons, while different across the west and east coasts of Malaysia, are similar enough in Singapore and the Malaysian west coast, making the monsoons easy to avoid by traveling in November, February, and March.
