Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 Rome: Welcome to Rome, Italy

Italy, Rome

Upon arrival at Rome’s airport, you’ll be met by our driver who will welcome you and provide a private transfer to your hotel. After getting settled into your room you can enjoy the afternoon at your leisure. You might want to find an enticing café or wine bar to sit down and unwind with a glass while people-watching and getting a feel for the city. There are many that can be found throughout the winding streets and alleyways, including Piazza di Spagna at the base of the famous Spanish steps. From here to Piazza Trinita dei Monti at the top, there are also restaurants for all budgets and tastes.

Day 2 Rome: Half-Day Ancient Rome, Colosseum & Roman Forum

    Italy, Rome

Take a trip back to the heart of ancient Rome on a tour of the Roman Colosseum and Roman Forum. You’ll start by meeting your local guide at the iconic 1st-century AD amphitheater, which saw some four centuries of active use, drawing over 50,000 spectators to witness the almost daily theatrical demonstrations and gladiatorial competitions. The Roman Forum is next door with its roots that date back to 500 BC. It was used as a site for law courts, public meetings, and gladiator combat, as well as featuring a number of open-air markets and shops. Today it holds the ancient city’s oldest structures.

Day 3 Rome: Half-Day Vatican City & Museums Tour

      Italy, Vatican

This morning our driver/guide will bring you on a half-day tour of Vatican City, including the Vatican Museum, St. Peter’s Square, and spectacular St. Peter’s Basilica, completed in 1626 following 120 years of construction. The museum is a massive complex with multiple institutions that feature frescoes, paintings, sculptures, classical antiquities, tapestries, and the Sistine Chapel. The chapel is best known for its gorgeous frescoes that include works by Botticelli and Perugino, and of course, the ceiling and Last Judgment by Michelangelo. You’ll explore the Gallery of Tapestries and Gallery of Geographical Maps too, all while getting interesting insight throughout.

Day 4 Ravello: Transfer from Rome to Ravello via Pompeii & Naples

Ancient villa in Ravello, Amalfi coast.

This morning you’ll begin the next part of this exciting journey by taking a private transfer from your hotel in Rome to the train station. You’ll hop on the high-speed train to Naples, a 90-minute ride, with our driver meeting you upon arrival. From there you’ll travel to Ravello on the Amalfi Coast via Pompeii, with a stop for pizza in Naples, the city of its birth. Once in Ravello, you’ll check into your hotel with the remainder of the day yours to enjoy as you wish. Unwind and enjoy the facilities or take a stroll through the alleyways, enjoying the picturesque piazzas and architecture.

Day 5 Ravello: Full-Day Positano & Amalfi Tour

          Positano, Italy

A full-day tour is filled with spectacular beauty, starting with Positano. Built on the face of the cliff, colorful pastel homes spill toward the sea while steep streets are lined with medieval buildings. You’ll take a short, guided walk to see some of the sights while learning more about the town, with free time to shop or explore before heading to Amalfi. Your guide will bring you on a narrated walk through the center, visiting landmarks like the Moorish/Gothic Cathedral of St. Andrea with its 11th-century bronze doors from Constantinople. Time on your own is ideal for shopping or lunch before returning to Ravello.

Day 6 Ravello: Day of Leisure

            Capri Island, Italy

Enjoy an entire day of leisure, perhaps exploring Ravello or heading out on a day trip to Capri for a self-guided tour. Blessed with a breath-taking setting, it’s truly a vision, surrounded by the cobalt blue sea while bursting with fuchsia that cascades down whitewashed terraces while the bright yellow of the many lemon trees results in a stunning palette of color. It’s well-known for its high-end shops and glamorous cafes but you’ll find plenty of other things to do. We highly recommend a visit to the Gardens of Augustus with its multilevel, terraced gardens and views over Capri without a long hike.

Day 7 Ravello: Tour of Sorrento with a Limoncello Tasting

              Sorrento, Italy

Your driver will meet you at your hotel for a private tour that starts by visiting the wineries below the Convent of St. Francis and the chance to witness the production of limoncello. You’ll enjoy a taste of it along with wine and light bites like homemade bread with extra-virgin olive oil and other local bites, perhaps a slice of Neapolitan pizza. Afterward, you’ll visit nearby Sorrento, a sundrenched cliff-top town filled with colorful flowers that was a popular resort for wealthy Romans. A guided walking tour of the center reveals sights like the impressive Duomo with a 13th-century cloister.

                Day 8 Ravello: Departure

With the arrival of the eighth day, it’s time for this enchanting adventure to end. You’ll be met by our driver for a private transfer to Naples Airport where you can catch your return flight home.
