Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 Arusha

Arusha Coffee Lodge - Elewana

Our driver/guide will meet you at Kilimanjaro airport with a fresh cloth to wash your face and a cold drink after your flight. After introductions have been done, your driver will transfer you to Arusha Coffee Lodge which is situated in the small town of Arusha. The town is a starting point for those climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, so it is usually home to enthusiastic guides who welcome tourists openly. Arusha Coffee Lodge has a stunning design and homely feel to it, with interior replicating a traditional plantation house. Spend a night enjoying the comfort of the hotel – the perfect introduction to Tanzania.

    Day 2 Tarangire National Park

    Tarangire Treetops Elewana

Enjoy an early morning breakfast in the African sun with, of course, a local cup of coffee. Afterwards, your driver/guide will meet you at Arusha Coffee Lodge and you will begin your driving itinerary into Tarangire National Park. This is approximately a 2-3 hour drive however as you have a private vehicle and guide, you can make it as leisurely as you like, stopping to see things on the way or taking photographs. As you arrive into the gates of Tarangire, you will take a leisurely game drive through the park until you reach Tarangire Treetops where you will stay for 2 nights on a full board basis.

      Day 3 Tarangire National Park

Tarangire Walking Safari - Elewana Tarangire Treetops

Today is a full day game drive inside Tarangire National Park – the sixth largest in Tanzania. During the months between June and October, the park is dry and offers fantastic game viewing experiences, with the change to see large elephant herds, lion prides, zebra, wildebeest, giraffe and much more. The landscape is also known for its huge baobab trees which can live up to 5,000 years old. These are Africa’s most-loved and iconic trees and Tarangire is home to some of the largest ones. At sunset, enjoy sundowners in the park and then head to Tarangire Treetops to enjoy a delicious dinner and fire-camp drinks.

        Day 4 Serengeti National Park

        Sanctuary Kichakani

After breakfast and a morning coffee, you will begin your drive to the Serengeti National Park. This will be approximately a 5-hour drive but a large part of it will feel like a game drive as you pass game-filled plains and iconic viewpoints. Once you enter the boundaries of the Serengeti, you will continue to drive to the southern plains of the Serengeti (between November and March). This is where luxury tented camp is located and your home for the next 2 nights – Kichakani Camp. This is mobile tented camp offering luxury accommodation and excellent guiding.

          Day 5 Serengeti National Park

          Sanctuary Kichakani2

Today, your driver/guide will take you out a full day game drive inside the Serengeti National Park. A picnic lunch will be provided and plenty of water and drinks to keep you hydrated. Out on your game drive, you will drive through a variety of landscapes, with the opportunity to see elephant, hippo, crocodile, giraffe, zebra and antelope to name a few. As most cats are territorial, your guide will know the best locations for big such as lion prides, cheetah and leopard. During the months of November to June, the wildebeest migration herds will be around the central and southern plains of the Serengeti.

            Day 6 Ngorongoro Crater

The Manor Elewana - Ngorongoro Crater

After some exceptional game viewing in the Serengeti, it is now time to head to another of Tanzania’s most iconic destinations – the Ngorongoro Crater. As you drive east out of the Serengeti, you can enjoy a game drive on route, and stop as much or as little as you’d like. Located in the Ngorongoro highlands, you will spend the next 2 nights at Plantation Lodge. Beautiful well-kept gardens and coffee-plantation hills surround the lodge, so you will instantly feel at one with nature. Relax at Plantation Lodge, ready for another day of excitement tomorrow.

              Day 7 Ngorongoro Crater

              The Manor Ngorongoro - Elewana

The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the Wonders of the World, and rightly so! As the largest inactive caldera in the world, the Ngorongoro Crater attracts thousands of visitors each year to witness the views from the top, and experience the famous game drive down the crater rim. As you leave Plantation Lodge in the morning, make sure you wear lots of layers as temperatures are much cooler at the top of the crater. As you descend down into the crater, you will start to feel warmer and the safari begins. Enjoy the unique ecosystem and the abundance of wildlife on your day-long game drive.
