Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 Antequera: Arrival into Malaga, transfer to Antequera
Welcome to Spain! You’ll fly into Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport where you’ll be met by your private driver for transfer to your accommodation in Antequera, an historical Andalucian town that dates back nearly 5,000 years. Walk back through time, with history revealed in everything from baroque and Renaissance fountains to gothic churches, a Moorish castle, Roman baths, dolmens and burial mounds. Your first glimpse will reveal its many churches, walls and towers of the great fortress, silhouetted against the sky. Upon arrival, enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure, perhaps sampling the town’s signature dish, Porra Antequerana, a thick-style gazpacho.
Day 2 Antequera: Private Tour of Seville
After getting recharged with a peaceful night’s rest, you’ll enjoy your first included excursion. You’ll be taken by private transfer to historic Seville, famous as the ‘City of Flamenco’ as well as being the setting for ‘The Marriage of Figaro’ by Mozart and Bizet’s ‘Carmen.’ Some of the highlights your guide will bring to life including the world’s largest gothic church, the 15th-century Seville Cathedral, which is also home to the tomb of Christopher Columbus. Enjoy the picturesque views of the streets that are all lined with orange trees, the scenic parks and atmospheric old quarters with their narrow, winding streets.
Day 3 Antequera: Optional Visit to Cordoba
Today you can choose to relax and explore Antequera on your own, including its Moorish fortress often called “the heart of Andalucia.” Or join an optional private tour of Cordoba. This city is filled impressive cultural and historic landmarks like the Mosque-Cathedral, a UNESCO-listed site which includes all the buildings and streets around it. One of the most impressive Moorish complexes, Mezquita’s remarkable grandeur reveals its historic position as Europe’s greatest Moorish city, with some sections dating as far back as the 8th-century. As you stroll the streets around it, you’ll feel as if you’ve gone back in time more than a thousand years.
Day 4 Antequera: Private Tour of Ronda
A tour of Ronda is included today. Your private driver/guide will pick you up, traveling through the countryside dotted with charming, whitewashed villages until reaching spectacular Ronda, tucked into the Andalusian hills. One of the oldest towns in Spain, centuries-old history can be discovered at every turn. It sits above the dramatic El Tajo gorge and is home to 13th-century Arabic baths, considered the most well-preserved in the country. The narrow maze of streets are lined with grand Renaissance homes, while the 1793 Puente Nuevo bridge connects the old Moorish town to the newer parts of the city.
Day 5 Antequera: Granada Day Trip
Enjoy a guided tour this morning, traveling through the foothills to the beautiful city of Granada which sits atop three hills, rising from the Andalusian Plain while snow-capped mountains offer a magnificent backdrop. Your guide will bring you on a sightseeing tour that concludes by visiting the fabulous Alhambra gardens, a walled settlement considered one of the finest Moorish palaces in the world. It’s the only preserved palatine city from the Islamic period and a quintessential example of Nasrid art complete with serene courtyards, pools and fountains. The many treasures to be discovered reveal the glory days of the great empire.
Day 6 & 7 Malaga: Leisure Time
After five nights in stunning Andalucia, it’s time to say adios and head to the beautiful Costa del Sol coast for 2 nights of relaxing and leisure time. Spend 2 nights at a luxury beach front hotel outside Malaga with time on your own to soak up the sunshine and enjoy some rest and relaxation
Day 8 Malaga: Depature
Time to bid farewell to Spain and make your journey home. Our private driver will meet you at your hotel after checkout, returning you to Malaga Airport where you’ll begin your journey home.
