Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 Colombo: Arrival into Sri Lanka
After touching down in Colombo, Sri Lanka, you’ll be met by your private driver/guide who will drive you to your nearby hotel. After your long flight, you’ll need time to rest and recuperate, so you’ll have the afternoon at your leisure, perhaps relaxing and taking advantage of the facilities at your accommodation. If you want to stretch your legs, you might explore the historic architecture in Colombo, with magnificent colonial buildings influenced by the Portuguese, Dutch and British. There are plenty of shopping opportunities and restaurants to enjoy too. If your feet get tired, you can get around by tuk-tuk.
Day 2 - Day 4 Ulagalla: The ‘Cultural Triangle’
Your private driver will bring you north to the “Cultural Triangle” today, with a visit to the ancient city of Anuradhapura, famous for its well-preserved ruins of an ancient Sinhala civilisation. If you’d like you can visit Minhintale, the ruins of a fascinating ancient hospital built in the 9th-century. You’ll stay at a luxury hotel in Ulagalla near the ancient capitals, with time during your stay to visit the UNESCO-listed Sigiriya Fortress, one of the most photographed sites in Sri Lanka. The ancient rock fortress located is dominated by a massive column of rock that rises more than 650 feet from the ground.
Day 4 - Day 6 Kandy: Ancient Temples and Gardens
Journey to Kandy today, stopping to visit the UNESCO-protected Dambulla Cave Temples which feature ancient artwork and 157 Buddha statues, set within a network of caves. After reaching your hotel in the city, enjoy relaxing among the beautiful, lush surroundings. During your time here, you’ll visit the Temple of the Tooth, a Buddhist temple that houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. We also suggest visiting the botanical gardens with a private guide. Located a few miles west of the city along the Mahaweli River, the gardens are the most impressive in Sri Lanka, especially renowned for its collection of orchids.
Day 6 - Day 8 Hatton: Tea Country
Heading south, your private driver will bring you into spectacular Tea Country where you’ll be surrounded by green in every direction. Nearly evry hillside is covered with brilliant tea bushes. On early mornings, they’re usually covered in mist that slowly dissipates, revealing the tall conical mountain known as Adam’s Peak. From here you’ll be able to explore the highlands’ lush tea plantations and take advantage of opportunities to cycle or take a trek through the stunning landscapes. Routes wind past brightly painted Hindu temples and stone churches, through tiny hamlets home to tea pickers who are descendants of south Indian Tamil workers.
Day 8 Colombo: Unwind and Relax
With your time in Sri Lanka soon coming to an end, your private driver will bring you back to Colombo where you’ll spend the night closer to the airport. You’ll have the afternoon to enjoy at your leisure – we suggest spending time in the spa and lounging around the pool, the perfect way to relax before jetting off to the Maldives. This evening, you might want to indulge in the tasty eats at the on-site restaurant, and then get your bags packed and ready before a peaceful night’s rest.
Day 9 - Day 14 The Maldives
Check out of your Colombo hotel, taking private transfer back to the airport where you’ll catch your flight to the Maldives, an archipelago in the Indian Ocean, known as one of the world’s most breathtaking with hundreds of postcard-perfect islands surrounded by warm water in a myriad of brilliant blue hues. While you could spend your days simply gazing out at the scenery, there are plenty of active pursuits to enjoy too, including outstanding snorkelling and diving among vibrant coral reefs, windsurfing, sailing and more. Luxury resorts here are renowned for their world-class spas and restaurants helmed by top chefs serving mouthwatering cuisine.
