Our Luxury Tours of Ecuador
Many people will visit the Galapagos Islands and they may include two nights on the mainland when they land in Quito. Mainland Ecuador has so much to offer and we would always encourage guests to add on some time to explore its volcanoes, rain forests and UNESCO World Heritage Cities.
Just two hours by car from Quito is the Cloud Forest, this high-altitude rainforest has incredible birdlife and tropical vegetation to explore. If you have the time, you can visit Yasuni National Park in the heart of the Amazon jungle. It is a two-hour flight from Quito followed by a boat transfer into the Amazon.

Is Ecuador an expensive destination?
The Galapagos Islands are expensive due to their remoteness, but mainland Ecuador is one of the most affordable destinations in South America. The county has an extensive transport network that is inexpensive and if you are happy to eat like the locals, food is also cheap. The attractions are not overpriced and your money can go a very long way in Ecuador.
Do I need to be concerned about altitude sickness?
The capital, Quito is at an altitude of 9,000ft and some people find they suffer from a little bit of altitude sickness on arrival. For most people, the sickness is very mild and we recommend you spend a day or two resting to allow your body to acclimatise.
Can I whale watch in Ecuador?
Between June and September over 1000 humpback whales migrate to the Ecuador coast. You can take boat trips to spot the humpback whales, dolphins and other whales species from the town of Purto Lopez.
What is the food like in Ecuador?
The food changes depending on which region you are in, towards the East they eat a lot of soup like the Colombians over the border. To the South near Peru, there is a lot of ceviche on the menu.
The staples of the local diet include potatoes, fish, rice, beans, seafood and meat. They like to use a spicy chile hot sauce called aji on their dishes.
