Many people will visit the Galapagos Islands and they may include two nights on the mainland when they land in Quito. Mainland Ecuador has so much to offer and we would always encourage guests to add on some time to explore its volcanoes, rain forests and UNESCO World Heritage Cities.

Just two hours by car from Quito is the Cloud Forest, this high-altitude rainforest has incredible birdlife and tropical vegetation to explore. If you have the time, you can visit Yasuni National Park in the heart of the Amazon jungle.  It is a two-hour flight from Quito followed by a boat transfer into the Amazon.

We highly recommend guided tours through the old town areas of the colonial cities of Quito and Cuenca. Ecuador has some of the best-preserved examples of 16th Century architecture when the Spanish came and built their settlements. A guide can take you through the history of the area and then at night you can walk through the main square, have dinner and soak up the atmosphere.

The Avenue of the Volcanoes has some of the most spectacular landscapes in Ecuador with 8 snow-capped volcanoes, some of the volcanoes are still active and you can see the smoke coming from them. The two most famous peaks are Chimborazo and Cotopaxi and in between the volcanoes, there are traditional villages, markets and farming.
