Thonga Beach Lodge Overview
This is a beach resort, but it is barefoot African luxury. Thonga is all about the water and they have a marine centre so guests can scuba dive and snorkel. The areas is home to turtles, dolphins and coral reefs. Guests will have miles of beach to themselves, except for the whales that pass through between June and November! During turtle season (November – February) guests can get involved in turtle monitoring, where you monitor the hatching of baby turtles on the beach. Lake Sibaya is close the lodge and you can kayak there and get close to the resident hippos and crocodiles populations. With just 12 rooms built into the forest, this lodge is conscious of its footprint and very ecologically aware. The rooms are free standing and built with natural materials, so they blend into the landscape. Each room had forest or ocean views, some have private plunge pools. They have an outdoor deck surrounded by milkwood trees and a beach deck as well as swimming pools and a spa.
