Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 Nairobi
You will be met on arrival in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi. Greeted with a friendly smile and a kind driver/guide, you will instantly feel welcome to the country. You will be transferred to Hemingways Hotel which is located between Nairobi National Park and the foot of the Ngong Hills. The hotel is luxurious in every sense – with personal butler service, a relaxing spa on site, contemporary modern cuisine and a bar featuring the finest selection of wines. Enjoy the evening, relax and unwind, ready for your safari adventure tomorrow.
Day 2 Amboseli National Park
You will be transferred to the domestic airport to fly to Amboseli National Park – the second most popular wildlife area in Kenya. Amboseli is a diverse park where green wetlands contrast against dry savannahs. The park is famous for its large elephant populations, bird species and of course, the iconic backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. Amboseli is actually regarded one of the best places to see Africa’s tallest mountain, and it makes for a stunning photograph. You will spend the next two nights in Elewana’s Tortilis Camp – a classic luxury safari camp in the heart of the park.
Day 3 Amboseli National Park
Today you will enjoy a full day of game-viewing activities in Amboseli National Park. After a bush breakfast, you will enjoy a shared game drive in an open-sided vehicle for a few hours. Watch elephant eat, lions sleep and antelope run. You will have a long lunch at Tortilis Camp, enjoying the camps facilities like the lounge area, swimming pool and cosy rooms. After lunch, head out on an exciting walking safari to spot the smaller species in the bush. Your guide will talk about the flora and fauna, the importance of the insects like the dung beetle, and tell you stories as you walk. Of course, your day would not be complete without scenic sundowners.
Day 4 Amboseli National Park
Head out on an early morning game drive and a bush breakfast in Amboseli National Park. Say goodbye to the staff and guide from Tortilis Camp and fly to Meru National Park mid-morning. Meru is famous for its large elephant herds, birdlife, lion prides and the rhino sanctuary. This is one of the prime destinations to see rhino in their natural habitat in all of Kenya, if not Africa! The camp you will be staying in – Elsa’s Kopje – is one of the most famous on the continent. It is an award-winning boutique lodge and offers panoramic views of Mount Kenya and Nyambeni Hills to the eastern plains.
Day 5 Meru National Park
Today is an exciting day of safari activities in Meru National Park. There are various activities to choose from, including day and evening shared game drives in open-sided vehicles, guided bush walks, day excursions to the Tana River, a visit to the rhino sanctuary, and line-fishing in spring fed streams. It is completely up to you what activities you would like to do each morning and afternoon, or if you would prefer to relax in the lodge and take in the breath-taking views and stillness of the bush, then feel free! The staff will do everything they can to make your stay as memorable as possible.
Day 6 Masai Mara National Park
This morning you will be transferred back to the airstrip to fly to the magnificent Masai Mara National Park. This is the jewel in Kenya’s safari crown. The game-filled plains are home to a huge number of resident populations of lion, leopard, cheetah, giraffe, elephant, hyena, and buffalo, among many others. If you visit the Mara between the months of July and November, you will witness the great wildebeest migration where over 1.5 million wildebeest, accompanied by approximately 200,000 zebra cross the Mara River in search of green pasture and fresh rains. This is a phenomenal sighting.
Day 7 Masai Mara National Park
Today you will enjoy a full day on a game drive in the Masai Mara National Reserve. You will set off early morning in search of exhilarating sightings – lions, leopards, elephants, cheetahs… you name it! Your guide will pack a picnic lunch so you can enjoy that without missing a minute on safari. In the afternoon, you can do a cultural visit to a Maasai village, or to Embiti Primary School which is supported by the camp. Of course, you will finish your day with sundowner drinks watching the sunset, before heading back to Sand River Camp to enjoy dinner under the stars.
Day 8 Diani Beach
On your final safari day, you can either choose to have a relaxing bush breakfast in Sand River Camp, or head out on a morning game drive to get your last safari fix before you depart. Lunch will be served in the luxury safari camp and then you will be transferred to the airstrip to fly to Ukunda Airport on the coast. On arrival you will be met and transferred to the AfroChic Boutique Hotel where you will spend the next four nights on Diani Beach.
Day 9 - 11 Diani Beach
The hotel is located on the northern stretch of Diani Beach, which is quieter than the main central section. AfroChic is small, with just 10 bedrooms, a garden with pool and in front of the garden is the beach. There are lots of water based activities to enjoy, including snorkeling, diving, kite surfing and excursions to nearby islands. The Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park offers some of the best snorkeling in Kenya with over 360 species of tropical fish. Divers also have the chance to see whales, dolphins and turtles who live in the area. If you prefer to explore on the land, the Shimba Hills National Reserve and the Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary can be visited on a day trip.
Day 12 Depart
This morning you will check out and your driver will transfer you to the airport for your flight to Nairobi. Depending on your outbound flight time, you will either be transferred to a hotel for a day room, or transferred to the international airport to connect onto your flight home. Goodbye Kenya
