Hotel Fuki no Mori Overview
Nestled in the rolling hills around Edo-era post town Tsumago, Hotel Fuki no Mori (translated as ‘Forest Hotel Fuki’) is surrounded by beautiful rural scenery and is a fine base from which to explore Kiso and the Nakasendo. The ryokan is located around 20-minutes’ from the nearest train station in Nagiso, with guests offered a free shuttle service when checking in and out. Spacious rooms are Japanese-style but adapted for Western travelers, with private bathrooms, soft beds, and private balconies. The ryokan provides guests with traditional Japanese meals in private dining settings; dinner includes options such as salted calamari, boiled carp, and beefsteak. Guests can bathe in the 6 different types of indoor and outdoor hot spring baths on site and set out to enjoy walks in the gardens and forested areas immediately around the property.
