Hotel Des Balances Overview
An upscale hotel in a prime location overlooking the Reuss River in the heart of Old Town Lucerne, Hotel Des Balances sits in an elegant building that dates back to the 13th century. It opened its doors as an inn over 200 years ago and includes an often photographed façade painted in Hans Holbein style. One of the highlights is its restaurant/bar which has a seasonal outdoor terrace directly along the river with picturesque views of many popular sights.
It’s open for lunch and dinner, with small plates available afterward. A continental breakfast and full buffet are available with items like cooked-to-order eggs, fresh-baked croissants, fruit, juices, and even sparkling Prosecco. The chic, modern rooms all include air conditioning, flat-screen cable TVs, free Wi-Fi, and generously stocked minibars. Spacious suites are available with separate living rooms and bedrooms, whirlpool baths, and balconies with gorgeous views. Three have an infrared sauna or steam shower.
