Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 Rome: Arrival into Rome, Italy

Italy, Rome

Upon arrival to one of Rome’s two international airports, private transfer will bring you to your hotel in the center of this city with its rich history dating back nearly 3,000 years. You’ll have the rest of the day to enjoy it on your own. We have a few suggestions, perhaps strolling through the narrow streets of Centro Storico, one of the oldest districts in Rome to marvel at the baroque and classical Roman architecture, stopping in one of the cafes to enjoy the vibe and do some people watching. Other options include visiting the Colonna di Marco Aurelio or the Catacombs of Priscilla.

Day 2 Rome: Roman Colosseum and Forum Tour

Rome, Italy

Discover the history of the Roman Empire with a private walking tour starting at the Roman
Colosseum, the city’s iconic symbol and the largest amphitheatre in the world. You’ll learn about
some of its most famous figures like Julius Caesar and Emperor Augustus before continuing to the Roman Forum nearby with its ruins of squares, temples and more. Cutting through the ancient Roman street, Via Sacra, you’ll pass the temples of Faustina, Antonio and Vesta as well as the public meeting house, Basilica Julia and Aemilia. Your tour ends at Palatine Hill which
offers beautiful views stretching all the way to the Vatican.

Day 3 Rome: Early Morning Vatican Visit

Italy, Vatican

A three-hour tour will bring you to Vatican City early this morning before the crowds arrive to explore the Pio Clementio Museum, Gallery of Geographical Maps, Gallery of Tapestries and the Gallery of the Candelabra before continuing to the remarkable Raphael Rooms and stunning Sistine Chapel with Michelangelo’s impressive frescoes. Finish at St. Peter’s Basilica and Square where you’ll learn rarely revealed stories behind the amazing masterpieces. Enjoy the rest of the day exploring on your own to discover the city’s iconic spots like Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. You might end by visiting Piazza Navona with its Fountain of the Four Rivers.

Day 4 Rome: Pizza Making and Wine Tasting

Italy, authentic pizza

There’s no better place to learn to make pizza than the country where it was birthed and this morning, you’ll travel to nearby Frascati, a town renowned for its food and wine since ancient times. Your local guide will bring you to chat with local artisans and shop owners before visiting one of the town’s last remaining wood-burning ovens where the aroma fills the nearby square. You get a lesson on making authentic pizza dough from scratch using just five ingredients from a passionate pizzaiolo. You’ll learn about local Frascati wines, which will be enjoyed while enjoying your pizza fresh out of the oven.

Day 5 Amalfi: Transfer to Amalfi via Pompeii

Italy, Pompeii

Continuing south to your next destination, the train will bring you to Naples where you’ll be met by private transfer for the drive to Amalfi with an exciting stop along the way. One of the highlights of any trip to Italy is the ruins of Pompeii which was buried under 13 to 20 feet of ash when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD. The ash kept it incredibly well preserved, providing a glimpse of life nearly 2,000 years ago in this city lost in time, including ancient streets where you can see the ruts of chariot tracks, shops, villas, plazas and public buildings.

Day 6 Amalfi: Amalfi Coast Vespa Tour

Italy, Amalfi Coast

Waking up in Amalfi, enjoy a full-day Vespa tour of the famous Amalfi Coast with its pebble beaches and breath-taking clifftop views. One of the most stunning regions in the country with a history that dates back to ancient Rome, you’ll ride with your expert driver/guide, passing vineyards and terraced lemon groves on a 46-mile route stopping along the way to relax on one of the beautiful beaches and enjoy a refreshing dip in the clear blue sea. After returning to Amalfi village, enjoy a meal of fresh seafood followed by dessert: Delizie al Limone, the perfect end to an unforgettable day.

Day 7 Amalfi: Capri and Anacapri Excursion

Capri, Italy

A scenic drive on the Sorrentine Coast will bring you to the port in Sorrento this morning for your hydrofoil cruise to Capri Island, which the locals call the “Pearl of the Mediterranean. Frequently enjoyed by Roman Empire where the emperors stayed in opulent summer villas, you’ll take a guided walking tour to explore the villa ruins along with two harbours, Marina Piccola and Marina Grande. Take a stroll along the villa-lined promenade, Belvedere of Tragara, while gazing out at the panoramic view, visit Piazetta, Anacapri, and Augustus’ Garden. After returning to the hydrofoil, you’ll explore the famous “Blue Grotto,” ending back in Amalfi.

Day 8 Amalfi: Day of Leisure

Italy, Amalfi Coast

Enjoy exploring the Amalfi Coast at a leisurely pace on your own today. There are many different options – if you like water sports, kayaking and windsurfing can be enjoyed along the shores near Praiano, you might stroll the Lemon Path in Minori or take a half-day hike along the Path of Gods. If you want to spend the day relaxing on the beach, try Centra, Vettica Maggiore or Positano. Day 9 Rome: Transfer from Amalfi

Italy, Rome

It’s time to make your way back to Rome. Private transfer will bring you to your hotel in the city where you’ll enjoy your last night in Italy. This is the perfect time to sample the buzzing nightlife, like Gregory’s Jazz Club, a permanent fixture on the scene for over 20 years where can start with some of the city’s best pasta followed by live jazz and a drink at what many call the top whiskey bar in Rome. A relaxed experience can be enjoyed at Caffe Letterario (Literary Café) which has a coffee bar, library and exhibitions on art, cinemas, and music throughout.
