Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 Cape Town Arrival
On arrival at Cape Town Airport you will be met by your driver and transferred to Compass House.
Compass House is located in the sheltered, wind-free Bantry Bay suburb of Cape Town. Bantry Bay is an upmarket coastal suburb just two minutes from the beach-front and ten minutes away from the city centre, with breath taking views of the ocean from every room. The 20 meters long swimming pool and patio lend themselves brilliantly for day-time relaxation and witnessing the beautifully blissful South African sunset.
Day 2 Cape Town Eats City Walking Tour with Table Mountain
This tour explores Cape Town from all sides – the history, the people, their cultures, their cuisines, as well as contemporary Cape Town. Be sure to eat a very light breakfast and to wear comfortable shoes. This is not a fine dining tour, it’s a real food tour to discover and sample some of the traditional cultural dishes. You will walk and explore the city from a local’s perspective.
After exploring the city on foot, you will drive to Table Mountain Cable Way Station. You will board the cable car and ascend Table Mountain in order to enjoy the views of the city. (Weather dependent)
Day 3 Private Full Day Winelands Tour
This private wine tour is bespoke, we tailor the day to your personal wine and food taste. The below is a suggested itinerary.
We explore the history, the wine and the architecture of the region. The region is most famous for its red wine – there is however some great white wine found on the higher slopes of the mountains. Our recommendation for today would be to concentrate on the Stellenbosch wine region and to select two wineries in this region based on your wine tastes. Lunch is usually planned in this region as it is the foodie haven of the country. Some ideas for after lunch would be: a visit to Paarl or Franschhoek for another wine tasting or a walk through the town of Franschhoek or a walk in an organic garden on the Babylonstoren estate or an artisan bean to bar chocolate tasting! (Lunch is additional cost)
Day 4 Enjoy a day at leisure in Cape Town
Today is a free day for some personal exploration or to simply relax by the pool. We would suggest a trip to Robben Island to learn about Nelson Mandela and the anti apartheid movement or perhaps spend the afternoon in the V&A Waterfront.
Day 5 Madikwe Game Reserve
Today you will be collected from your hotel and transferred to Cape Town Airport for your flight to Johannesburg. On arrival into Johannesburg you will be met and transfers to your safari in the Madikwe Game Reserve.
Tucked away in the far north of South Africa is the 75000 hectare Madikwe Reserve which is widely acknowledged as being one of the finest conservation areas in Africa. The reserve is a malaria-free wilderness inhabited by a profusion of species from Vervet monkeys to Leopard.
You will be staying at the Five Star, Jamala Madikwe which comprises of just five freestanding luxurious villas. Each slice of paradise is fully air-conditioned with individual rim-flow pools and salas, expansive wooden decks and private outdoor showers.
Day 6 Madikwe Game Reserve
Enjoy daily game drives in the pristine malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve. The lodge offers incredible safari experiences including sighting of the big 5 and super 7. The ‘Big 5’ phrase referred to the five most dangerous animals in Africa to hunt. The term is still used today but without the hunting connotation. The “Super 7” phrase also includes the highly endangered Wild dog and Cheetah.
Twice-daily game drives at dawn and dusk form the daily routine of your safari day. You will witness sunrise and sunset under incredible African skies whilst enjoying the daily animal sightings. A typical game drive lasts approximately three to four hours.
Day 7 Madikwe Game Reserve
You will be up early for your morning game drive to explore the reserve. After your game drive you may decide to book into the spa for a midday massage before your afternoon drive.
Day 8 Depart
This morning you will enjoy your morning game drive and breakfast, before you check out. Your driver will collect you and transfer you back to Johannesburg Airport for your onward flight connection.
