Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 Paris: Arrival into Paris, France
Your enchanting 9-nights journey begins in Paris. You’ll be greeted by your private driver upon your arrival for transfer to your hotel in the City of Lights, one of the world’s most romantic destinations, famous for its delectable cuisine, art, fashion and culture. After getting settled into your room, the rest of the day can be enjoyed at your leisure. You might want to stretch your legs with a walk along the River Seine, popping in to the first inviting café for coffee to get re-energized while soaking up the local atmosphere before checking out the unique shops and riverside vendors.
Day 2 Paris: Private City Highlights Tour
This morning your private driver/guide will pick you up at your hotel for a half-day tour to explore many of the city’s highlights. Marvel at landmarks like the Notre Dame Cathedral and Place des Vosges square in the Le Marais district while learning about the sights from your knowledgeable guide. Continue to the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower for a panoramic view from the third-floor observation deck. This afternoon meet your private guide near the Louvre, the world’s largest art museum for a close look at famous works like Leonardo Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa and the more than 2,000-year-old Venus de Milo statue.
Day 3 Paris: Small Group Palace of Versailles Tour
An exciting small group tour brings you to the Palace of Versailles, about 15 miles south-west of the city center. Dating back to 1038, it’s impressive inside and out. Follow your guide through the opulent interior with its rare collection of art and Baroque furnishings, visiting multiple rooms like the Hall of Mirrors and the Sun King with its gilded bronzes and marble décor. Stroll the spectacular gardens with fountains, pools and more on your own, and then enjoy lunch in heart of the palace grounds near the Grand Canal. Tour the royal family’s second residences before returning to Paris.
Day 4 Avignon: Avignon Private Walking Tour
You’ll journey by train to Avignon today, with private transfer bringing you to the station this morning. Upon your arrival, take private transfer to your hotel. After settling in, embark on a private walking tour of this historic city, including the 8th-century St. Peter’s Church and the medieval ruins of the UNESCO-listed Pont d’Avignon and its famous bridge. Take in a panoramic view over Avignon from the Rock of the Doms, visit the 11th-century Avignon Cathedral and the huge UNESCO-listed papal palace, Palais des Papes, the epicenter of Western Christianity in the 14th-century and one of Europe’s most important Gothic-style buildings.
Day 5 Avignon: Wine Tour
It’s all about wine and ancient history today, with a half-day small group tour bringing you to discover the Roman city of Orange and a wine tour of Chateauneuf du Page. Visit the Triumphal Arch, one of the largest and oldest of its kind from the Gallo-Roman period, and the 1st-century Antique Theater, the most well-preserved Roman theater. Afterwards, it’s time to explore the vineyards, enjoy a scenic drive through the vines on the way to Chateauneuf-du-Pape where you’ll get an introduction to Rhone Valley wines, learning about the varietals, terror and aging cellars along with a tasting.
Day 6 Avignon: Full-Day Provence Tour
Your private driver/guide will bring you on a full day excursion of Provence, visiting all the top sites, including the UNESCO-protected Pont du Gard, a 2,000-year-old remarkably well-preserved Roman aqueduct. Visit one of the most beautiful villages in France, Les Baux de Provence, a hilltop village with a castle and stone ruins. Explore the charming narrow streets that make it easy to imagine 16th-century life before continuing to Gordes with its ancient castle and abbey overlooking the medieval village below. Postcard-perfect Roussillon, your next destination, sits atop an ocher cliff with shops and homes in its historic center featuring ocher-washed facades and pastel shutters.
Day 7 Nice: Explore Like a Local Tour
Private transfer will bring you to the train station this morning where you’ll embark on the 3.5-hour journey to Nice. Upon your arrival, your private driver/guide will bring you to your hotel. This afternoon, a half-day walking tour through Vieux Nice will bring you through the charming cobbled streets lined with pastel painted buildings in the heart of the old town. See the sights like a local, at a relaxed pace, stopping for coffee while soaking up the atmosphere. Explore St. Francis Square and stroll a stretch of the promenade that brings dazzling views of the Mediterranean and the yacht-filled port.
Day 8 Nice: Small Group Guided Tour of Monaco, Eze and Monte Carlo
Enjoy a full day of exploring Monaco, Eze and Monte Carlo on a small group tour. Your expert guide will reveal the details of the medieval village of Eze with its craft shops and stunning views from an elevated perch, and you’ll embark on guided perfumery tour to experience the essence of Provence. Visit Monaco’s Old Town, including the palace, cathedral and Cousteau Oceanographic Museum, stopping to watch the Changing of the Palace Guards. In Monte Carlo, you’ll get to drive the Grand Prix circuit and enjoy time on your own at Casino Square, exploring the gardens, casinos, shopping and checking out the mega-yachts.
Day 9 Nice: Private Mediterranean Resort Towns Tour
Your private driver/guide will bring you on a tour of some of the most enticing Mediterranean resort towns, Cannes, Antibes, and Grasse, the world capital of perfume. As you travel toward Antibes, you’ll pass celebrity villas and enjoy some incredibly spectacular sea views. Once there, your guide will reveal the Old Town and Billionaire’s Quay with its superyachts while the 16th-century Fort Vauban soars overhead. Visit the famous Film Croisette Boulevard along the coast of Cannes, famous for its festivals and film stars, then explore the picturesque Old Town of Grasse before a guided visit of the Fragonard perfume factory.
Day 10 Departure
Today your 9-night adventure through Paris, Provence and the Riviera comes to an end, with your private driver bring you to the airport to catch your flight home or for further travels. Of course, if you aren’t ready to say au revoir just yet, you can always reach out to your travel experts to extend your journey.
