Hidatei Hanaougi, Takayama Overview
Hidatei Hanaougi has a natural hot spring on-site, flowing into the open-air baths and communal baths. A ryokan that places a focus on traditional Japanese hospitality, it provides a serene settling nestled among trees just a short distance from Hidakokubun-ji Temple. Rooms were designed to provide a tranquil space to relax with lots of natural wood, traditional screens, tatami mats and chabudai dining tables. Modern amenities are included as well, like a flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, mini-fridge, air purifier and toiletries. Upgraded rooms included terraces with open-air, hot spring soaking tubs and some have gardens too. In addition to the baths, guests can take relaxation up a notch by arrange for an in-room massage. There’s also a salon and souvenir shop on-site. Dining includes an artfully prepared Kyoto-style kaiseki course meal with a focus on seasonal, local ingredients, including Hida beef, served in private room. Breakfasts include locally grown rice and regional dishes.
