Chikoko Trails Camps Overview
For those looking to do a walking safari itinerary in the South Luangwa National Park, look no further than combining the Chikoko Trail Camps. This is made up of two smaller bush camps – Crocodile Camp and Chikoko Camp – which both operate between June and October. Both camps are made up of three chalets, and are only accessible on foot. The idea of the Chikoko Trail is that you spend the day on foot in the bush, experiencing the smaller (and bigger) elements of the South Luangwa National Park. You will be guided by a professional walking safari guide and accompanied by a ranger and scout. The idea is that you walk between the camps, spending a night (or two nights) each at Chikoko Camp, Crocodile Camp, and then the sister property Tafika Camp. With no vehicle access, these bush camps give you an experience like no other. Sightings around this area include large herds of elephant, giraffe, wild dog, lion prides, hippo, and a host of antelope like eland and kudu.
