With its name translating to “the large house on La Ronda,” Casona de la Ronda is a boutique hotel located right along the cobbled thoroughfare, one of the oldest streets in the city at the edge of Quito’s historic district. Originally built as a townhome in 1738, there are period features throughout, from terracotta tiling to stone walls and thick beams. Expect personal service from friendly, caring staff who happily provide information on the attractions and activities in the city, that can begin with a ride from the hotel’s own taxi service from the airport. The on-site restaurant serves an impressive breakfast that includes an abundance of fresh fruit, pastries, and cheeses, with dinner based on coastal Ecuadorian and Andean themes. Rooms are modeled around a gorgeous central courtyard, all of which blend traditional and contemporary styles with polished wooden floors. They include en-suite bathrooms with powerful rain showers and excellent soundproofing.
