Capella Ubud is an ultra-luxurious tented/glamping resort tucked between the rice terraces, rainforest and Wos River less than 30 minutes north of Ubud. It’s a tribute to early European settlers’ spirit of adventure with the reception desk in an open-air bale called the Camp Post. Guests are welcomed with “survival kits” that include ponchos, ear plugs and bug spray, while Personal Assistants are on hand to arrange excursions like sunrise volcano climbs and visits to ancient temples. Enjoy a variety of spa treatments, including massage, and a host of activities on-site too, like cycling, nature walks and free yoga classes. Two outstanding open-air restaurants perched on the hillside are available for dining, from sumptuous breakfasts at Mads’ Lang to the nightly eight- to 10-course tating menus at Api Jiwa. Accommodation is in beautiful tent retreats accessed by a suspension bridge which leads to a private deck and saltwater plunge pool.
