Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 Cape Town

Cape Town

Welcome to Cape Town. A driver/guide will meet you at the airport for transfer to your hotel, allowing you to gaze out at the magnificent scenery that includes the city’s most recognized landmark, Table Mountain. It overlooks Cape Town and Table Bay, dominated the north end of the Cape Peninsula. You’ll spend five days at a luxury hotel along the V&A waterfront, a safe area within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. After checking in, you might want to rest up from your long flight before enjoying a short stroll to find a spot for dinner and do some browsing.

Day 2 Cape Town and Robben Island Tour

Waterfront Cape Town

Today you’ll take a tour of Robben Island, located several miles off the coast from the V&A Waterfront. This World Heritage Site has had a number of incarnations as a military base, leper colony, mental institution, and most famously, a prison. This was where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 18 years. You’ll be able to stand in his cell, and experience what he felt when his cell door slammed shut, learning more about Mandela and the island from your guide, a former prison guard and friend of the anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader. After your return, enjoy dining along the waterfront.

Day 3 Cape Point Tour

Boulders beach

A full day private tour will bring you to Cape Point with a scenic drive along a road that winds between the Atlantic and the mountains to the southwestern tip of the African continent. Enjoy a stop in the charming Hout Bay and at several gorgeous viewpoints that provide outstanding photo-ops. Your guide will bring you to Boulders Beach, home to a famous penguin sanctuary, before taking you to a beach only known to the locals where you can relax on the sand right with the tuxedoed birds.

Day 4 Cape Winelands Tour

Vineyard

Journey into the Cape Winelands where endless vineyards cover the landscape less than an hour from Cape Town, where you’ll learn about the region’s wine while tasting with some of South Africa’s top winemakers. Discover the story of Pinotage, the indigenous grape created in 1925, from the grandson of viticulturist Abraham Perold who first cloned it. A cross between Pinot Noir and Cinsault, it’s surprisingly bolder than both its progenitors. At the next wine farm, you’ll enjoy a wine and food pairing. This tour is tailor made to your wine tastes, so let us know what you enjoy!

Day 5 Cape Town and Table Mountain Cable Car

Cable Car

You’ve seen Table Mountain from below, today, you’ll head to the top by cable car. It revolves along the way to provide a stunning 360-degree panoramic view from the summit. You’ll be able to gaze over the city as well as the Atlantic and Indian oceans from the top before taking one of the easy walking trails. After returning to the city, meet up with our local guide who will bring you to the colourful markets and a neighbourhood popular for its vibrant street art. If you’d like, your tour today can be personalized to highlight your interests, such as nature, culture and art.

Day 6 Free Day to Explore Cape Town

Kirstenbosch Gardens Cape Town

Today is free for personal exploration of Cape Town, here are some suggestions for your day:

Hop in a taxi and go to the wine estates of the Constantia Valley, only 20 minutes from Central Cape Town. Book a leisurely lunch at one of the award winning restaurants followed by a wine tasting.

Cape Town has wonderful hiking trails through the mountains and reserves. These can be guided or self guided.

Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens has a café, walks and some of the most beautiful gardens in the country.

Rent a sea kayak to get up close and personal with Cape Town’s marine life.

Head to Camps Bay beach to relax on the white sand and people watch on the promenade.

Your tour consultant will be able to help you plan your day.

Day 7 Sabi Sands Game Reserve

Sabi Sands Game Reserve

You will be transferred back to the airport this morning for your flight to the Sabi Sands the most famous group of private game reserves in Africa. The world’s best place to see leopards, its 65,000 hectares lie adjacent to famous Kruger National Park, with no fences between them allowing the wildlife to wander across the vast stretches of grazing land. It’s also home to all sorts of other animals, including Big 5, antelopes and zebra. You will arrive at the lodge in time for your first afternoon game drive to explore the reserve.

Day 8 Sabi Sands Game Reserve

Zebra

Your safari experience will be led by a guided and tracker. While every day is different, expect exclusive wildlife experiences that you’re likely to be talking about for some time to come. If you’re here in the drier winter months, June through September, the vegetation is sparse with animals often congregating around water holes, making it the best time of year for spotting animals. October through April brings more rain, abundant bird life and a verdant, green landscape.

Day 9 Sabi Sands Game Reserve

Sabi Sands Game Reserve

An exciting day awaits with a game drive – a great way to track the big animals while exploring the savannah bringing lots of surprises and close encounters with all sorts of animals. You’ll have the option to take a hot-air balloon flight above Kruger National Park afterward. Likely to be a highlight of your trip, while soaring above you’ll gain an appreciation of the scale of the savannah while tracking elephants and admiring the Blyde River Canyon, one of the largest on earth, home to some of the deepest and most dramatic cliffs of any canyon on the plane.

Day 10 Sabi Sands Game Reserve

Elephant & Baby

As your activities are tailored to your interests, what you do today will all be determined by that, but one thing you can expect is every moment to be different. Perhaps you’ll wake up to see kudus grazing just steps from your accommodation or you’ll witness elephants wondering by as you watch the sun come up. At night, you might head out for a game drive to track leopards. The wildlife is all around, whether you’re at your lodge or taking part in a variety of adventures. With four days here, you’re likely to leave with a long list of sightings.

Day 11 Sabi Sands Game Reserve/Departure

Cheetah Family

While today is departure day, the better news is that there will be time for one last safari activity before saying goodbye. After enjoying your final look take private transfer through the bush to the airport for a direct flight to Johannesburg where you’ll connect with your international flight home.
