The Highlands Overview

This camp is a standout across all of Tanzania, if not Africa! Situated in the remote forest of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in northern Tanzania, The Highlands Camp has redefined the Ngorongoro Crater experience completely. Compared to other lodges which sit on the crater rim, the Highlands Camp is situated much further from the crater rim itself and instead, sits in a remote forest that skirts the Olmoti Volcano. The accommodation itself is award-winning and is like no other. Eight domed canvas and glass suites perch high above the forest, offering exquisite views across the forest. There are two domes in the main area – one for dining and the other is a lounge/bar area. As the temperatures are much cooler, all of the domes have their own stove fire which makes it much warmer and cosier. The décor is very Scandi, with faux fur rugs, minimal design and statement artwork. The experience at The Highlands is something to rave about alone. Here you can do hikes, day trips to the soda lake in Empakaai crater, local community visits and much more.
