Talk to the Expert
With a Kenyan father, Indian grandparents, and a Portuguese surname, travel is in my blood. I am enthralled by Africa and would happily talk about this diverse continent’s wildlife, cultures and experiences all day, every day.

Highlights
Spend six nights exploring Botswana, staying in tented camps, reconnecting with nature and experiencing the wild beauty of Botswana. This is an authentic camping experience but with all the comforts you would need. Botswana is generally a very expensive destination to visit due to the pristine nature of its parks, camping is a great and affordable way to explore the country.
You will spend three nights in the Moremi National Park , it has a wide range of habitats and offers some of the best game viewing in Africa. You will then spend three nights exploring the Khwai area of the Okavango Delta. This is one of the most beautiful areas of Botswana and a private reserve. By visiting two different areas you will see a greater variety of wildlife.

Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 Arrive Maun and transfer to Moremi National Park
Welcome to Botswana! On arrival into Maun Airport, you will be met and board your light aircraft for your flight into the Moremi Game Reserve. The flight is in a small aircraft that flies at low altitude so you can spot the larger animals from the plane. When you land your guide will meet you and take you to your camp for the next three nights in the Xakanaxa region of the park. Your team will comprise of a professional guide, camp manager, safari chef and camp staff who will take you on a guided trip through the reserves. You will travel through the Botswana wilderness in a 4×4 off road vehicle.
Your tent is furnished with camp beds which have a mattress, sheets and a duvet. Each tent has a private en suite bathroom with long drop toilet facilities and a bucket shower (a 15l bag is attached to outside of your tent and connects into your bathroom). Showers can be ordered as hot, cold or warm and the water is heated in a bucket on the fire.
Day 2 Exploring the Moremi National Park
You will spend two full days with your guide on game drives in the park. The Moremi lies on the eastern extremity of the Okavango Delta. Habitats here range from wide-open floodplains, marshes, lagoons, papyrus fringed channels, woodland and savannah. As a result of the extremely variable habitat the diversity of both wildlife and birdlife is excellent.
Day 3 Exploring the Moremi National Park
Moremi is among the best game reserves in Africa for viewing the endangered African wild dog. The Xakanaxa area is home to a resident herd of several hundred buffalo whose range covers the territories of at least four prides of lions which may often be seen flanking the ever moving herd. Breeding herds of elephant move between their browsing areas in the mopane forests and the fresh water of the Okavango.
.
Day 4 Moremi National Park to Khwai Reserve
Today you will leave the Moremi and drive 60km North East through the reserve towards the Khwai Area. You will stop for a picnic lunch en route. You will follow the river to the Khwai area which is one of the most beautiful areas of the Okavango Delta. Keep an eye on the river as you travel, they are full of hippos!
Leopard, cheetah, and lion are common predators along this route and both Xakanaxa as well as Khwai are included in the home ranges of 2 different packs of wild dog. You will also spot giraffe, zebra and antelope in the area.
Day 5 Exploring the Khwai Reserve
You will spend the next two days exploring the area which comprises of the river, the marsh lands and woodlands. This is a private reserve so there is a greater range of activities available. Activities while you are here include; game drives, walking safaris, night drives and mokoro trips.
A mokoro is a traditional narrow dugout canoe and a great way to explore the water channels of the Delta. An expert local propels you through reed-lined channels in silence so the wildlife is undisturbed. If you would like to get out into the reserve on foot, a walking safari is possible in the Khwai. Your expert guide will take you out to get up close and personal with the wildlife.
Day 6 Exploring the Khwai Reserve
The Khwai region boasts excellent elephant populations as well as lion, leopard, serval and African wildcat. Buffalo use this area seasonally with large herds moving in during the summer rains.
Day 7 Return to Maun Airport
After breakfast, your guide will transfer you to the airstrip for your light aircraft flight back to Maun. On arrival into Maun you will check in for your onward flight connection.
There is an option to extend your trip and head to Victoria Falls after your safari.
