Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 Split: Arrival + Guided Tour of Split’s Historic Center

Begin your exciting Dalmatian adventure upon your arrival into Split’s airport. Private transfer will bring you to your hotel – get settled in and then join your local guided for a tour of the historic center. It includes the 4th-century Roman Emperor Diocletian’s Palace, a massive maze-like complex home to magnificent buildings that have managed to survive from the Roman era. Afterwards, enjoy time on your own to explore the centuries-old structures, many of which were converted into wine bars, restaurants, and unique shops. Be sure to stroll The Riva, a promenade lined with more bars and eateries on the waterfront.

Day 2 Split: Private Krka National Park and Trogir Tour

    Krka National Park

A full day of exploring is on the itinerary today, starting with a private guided tour of Krka National Park. The Krka River runs through and it also features mesmerising waterfalls and sparkling lakes. View them on a scenic walk through the forest before heading out to your next destination, Trogir. Like an open-air museum, the entire historic walled city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, set upon a small island connected by bridge to the mainland. Your private guide will give you a tour of the medieval center with its beautiful blend of Romanesque, baroque and Renaissance buildings.

Day 3 Split: Day of Leisure + Cooking Class

      Split view

Enjoy much of the day on your own, an opportunity to explore Split more in-depth. You might climb to the top of the bell tower at St. Domnius Cathedral for a breathtaking 360-degree view, or hike up nearby Marjan Hill, which offers impressive views of the city, harbour and the sea from multiple vantage points. Afterwards, you’ll meet up with your instructor/guide for a small group culinary class. It begins with a visit to the Green Market, with your gourmet guide leading you through to pick up ingredients that will be used to prepare your own traditional Croatian dish.

Day 4 Hvar: Hvar Island Transfer + Private Guided Tour of Hvar Town

        Turquoise sea of Hvar island

Just south of Split off the coast, you’ll find the Adriatic’s sunniest and longest island, Hvar, popular among international jetsetters. Hvar Town’s upscale restaurants and elegant bars attract many of the rich and famous, who dock their mega-yachts in the harbour. It boasts beautiful landscapes from idyllic beaches to lavender- and vineyard-covered hills, along with a fabulous Old Town, which you’ll see on a private guided tour. Marvel at landmarks like Europe’s oldest community theater, opened for more than 400 years, and the Renaissance cathedral before climbing to the top of Fortica Fortress for a panoramic view of the coast, sea and islands.

Day 5 Hvar: Blue Cave Day Trip

          Blue Cave

One of the not-to-be-missed experiences in Croatia is the Blue Cave, easily reached by boat from Hvar, located on tiny Bisevo Island. Today you’ll get to enjoy a tour, heading inside the grotto in a small vessel to watch the surreal blue glow that illuminates the interior when the sun is in the optimal position. Afterwards, you’ll be able to enjoy a refreshing dip in a cave filled with crystal-clear emerald waters, or at Stinva Cove. If you’re adventurous, you can even leap in from the cliffs. Travel to the fishing village of Komiza next for a seafood feast with gorgeous sea views.

Day 6 Hvar: Day of Leisure + Optional Jeep Safari Tour

            Hvar Town Square

Enjoy a day of leisure on Hvar to explore more of the Old Town, like the 13th-century walls, hilltop fortress and picturesque main square. Or, spend the day sunbathing at one of the beautiful beaches, perhaps taking advantage of the Bonj les Bains Beach Club’s comfy loungers. If you want to see more of the island, including the rural countryside where wine grapes and lavender is grown, consider joining the optional small group Jeep Safari tour. It will bring you to many of the top spots and some hidden treasures, including interesting abandoned villages, while you gain insight from your knowledgeable guide.

Day 7 Dubrovnik: Private Guided Old City Tour

Heading back to the mainland, you’ll cruise over to Dubrovnik, the so-called “Pearl of the Adriatic.” One of the most famous and most beautiful of Europe’s UNESCO-protected cities, while its walled historic center was damaged by 1990s war, it’s been impeccably restored to its former glory. Meet your local guide just outside the gates for a walking tour of its landmarks and some “Game of Thrones” filming sites. Within the over 800-year-old walls you’ll find many impressive buildings like one of Europe’s oldest still working pharmacies at the Franciscan monastery and Rector’s Palace, which boasts a magnificent mix of Gothic and Renaissance architecture.

Day 8 Dubrovnik: Private Montenegro Day Trip

                Kotor, Montenegro

Today you’ll get to visit Croatia’s eastern neighbour, Montenegro. Your first stop is the walled city of Kotor, a UNESCO World Heritage Site established between the 12th and 14th centuries. Its medieval walls stretch for two miles, incorporated into St. Ivan’s Fortress. Enjoy the stunning scenery looking over the Bay of Kotor, that looks like it should be in Norway, with the beautiful fjord right along the edge of the Adriatic. You’ll visit the small town of Perast and its baroque architecture, and hope on a boat to see Our Lady of the Rocks, a tiny islet topped by a church and museum.

Day 9 Dubrovnik: Day of Leisure or Optional Tours

You can spend your final day taking part in what interests you most. From Dubrovnik, there are all sorts of fun experiences that can be enjoyed, like a small group wine tasting tour led by a wine expert into the neighbouring country of Bosnia. You can visit nearby Lokrum Island on a kayak tour, boat tour, or by local ferry. It holds a beautiful nature reserve with peacocks and other wildlife, the ruins of a 12th-century monastery and postcard-perfect beaches ideal for swimming in the enticing clear blue waters of the Adriatic. Or stick around the Old City to explore more of the sights.

                    Day 10 Departure

                    Dubrovnik Walls

While few ever look forward to departure day, the good news is you’ll have plenty of memories and probably lots of photos to take with you. If you don’t have to leave just yet, our expert staff can help you extend your time here or plan further travels elsewhere. Otherwise, after checking out of your hotel, you’ll take private transfer to Dubrovnik’s airport to catch your flight home.
