Benesse House, Naoshima Overview
Located in the Setouchi Inland Sea, the Benesse House sits on the fishing island of Naoshima. The island has become increasingly renowned for its art, and this hotel complements it perfectly, feeling more like a gallery, providing special access to the works of art at the Benesse Museum. In fact, it’s basically a museum with guest rooms which are spread across four buildings, each with a different location and theme: Beach, Park, Museum and Oval, the atter of which is farther uphill, accessed by monorail or walkways. All boast picturesque sea views in a striking natural setting, featuring a modern, minimalist look that includes lots of white, clean lines and light woods, along with a single original artwork. There are several restaurants on-site, including options for French and Japanese fare made with seasonal, local produce. On the upper floor of the Benesse House Museum is a café with fabulous sea views.
