Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1 Berlin: Arrival Into Berlin
After touching down into Berlin Brandenburg Airport, you’ll be met by your private driver/guide for transfer to your accommodation in the German capital, a sprawling green city that’s spread out over a vast expanse, five times bigger than Paris, with forest in every direction. As you’ll discover many of its historical landmarks tomorrow, you may want stretch your legs by taking a stroll in Tiergarten Park, a beautiful slice of landscaped greenery popular among the locals for walking and biking in a tranquil setting. There are also two beer gardens for relaxing and people watching with a cold German beer.
Day 2 Berlin: City Tour
Explore Berlin on a four-hour tour with an expert local guide who has an in-depth knowledge of the city with the ability to answer your questions about its history as well as modern daily life. You’ll visit the Gedarmenmarket, a neoclassical market square with its impressive architecture like the Franzosischer Dom (French Cathedral), which dates to 1701. Marvel at the iconic Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag, a portion of the Berlin Wall known as the East Side Gallery, repurposed into an open-air gallery, and Checkpoint Charlie, once the most important border crossing between East and West Berlin, and the city’s largest palace Charlottenburg Palace.
Day 3 Berlin: Off-the-Beaten Path Culture and Food Tour
An exciting tour awaits today. Your private driver/guide will pick you up for a unique excursion of Berlin that explores its off-the-beaten-path delights and fabulous culinary scene. Visit up-and-coming neighbourhoods to discover authentic daily life, fashion, art and foods, visiting alternative art galleries, organic markets, gardens and urban farms. Delve into Berlin’s various counterculture movements and learn about the Love Parade. You’ll get to dive into the unique food culture and sample a popular style of fried German sausage seasoned with a curry-flavoured ketchup, concluding your tour at Yaam Beach, an open-air club with a beach bar and art gallery.
Day 4 Oberwesel: Wine Market Festival & More
Travel to Oberwesel today by way of Frankfurt. Private transfer will bring you to the train station for the 4.5-hour ride to Frankfurt, and from there, you’ll be met by your private driver for the 90-minute drive to Oberwesel. After checking into your hotel, head out to explore at your leisure, witnessing the city’s rich historic past as the “town of towers and wine.” Marvel at the 16 military towers and visit the wine market festival to sample wines from the Middle Rhine region. This evening, dine on a four-course gourmet feast at Castle Auf Schoenburg, nestled on a hillside overlooking the Rhine River.
Day 5 Oberwesel: Full Day on the Rhine and Moselle Rivers
Enjoy a full day exploring the romantic Rhine and Moselle rivers, cruising on various KD ships. You’ll present your ticket onboard any of the vessels other than the Rheinjet, disembarking at interesting stops as often as you’d like all day long. Just a few of the possible attractions include Braubach’s well-preserved Marksburg Castle, the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress in Koblenz, Stolzenfels Castle and the romantic wine village of Bacharach which includes Stahleck Castle. Don’t miss visiting the Cast and Mouse Castles before enjoying the highlight of a Middle Rhine tour, Loreley Rock, which sits high above the river atop a gigantic steep slate rock.
Day 6 Heidelberg: City Walking Tour
It’s time to head to your next destination, Heidelberg, with a 90-minute journey by private transfer. Once there, enjoy a four-hour walking tour of this historic city that lies in the shadow of Heidelberg Castle, home to an often photographed red-brick bridge, one of this region’s most visited destinations. Make your way past the late 18th-century bridge heading to the Gothic-style Church of the Holy Spirit, then hop on the funicular to ascend to the castle. Tour the property and unique residence with its blend architectural styles from Gothic to Renaissance and enjoy beautiful views of the city and Neckar River below.
Day 7 Heidelberg: Day Trip to the Black Forest
Your private driver/guide will bring you on a day trip to the Black Forest, travelling toward the mountains near Triberg where you’ll get to marvel at the highest waterfall in Germany before visiting Eble Uhren Park nearby, home to the largest cuckoo clock in Europe. Enjoy a typical Black Forest lunch in a local eatery and then take a tour of the Black Forest Open Air Museum. Here, you’ll join a workshop focused on cuckoo clock design or butter-making. An optional activity, either a toboggan run or zip-line adventure, soaring high above the canopy of the Black Forest is possible too.
Day 8 Munich: Transfer from Heidelberg
This morning your private driver will meet you at your hotel for transfer to Heidelberg’s train station. A 3.5-hour ride will bring you to your hotel in the beautiful city of Munich. While it was nearly destroyed between the two world wars, it managed to recreate much of its Bavarian past. From the central square, Marienplatz, you can explore many fabulous landmarks like the Old and New Town Hall. The New Town Hall has a gorgeous carillon in its tower, a more than century-old glockenspiel, while the Mariensaule is topped with a golden statue of the Virgin Mary.
Day 9 Munich: Sightseeing Tour
Your private driver/guide will pick you up for a sightseeing tour of Munich today that will take in many of the popular sights. You’ll get to marvel at the Royal Palace, the National Theater, and the Palace of Nymphenburg as well as the historic Marienplatz. Enjoy visiting the Viktualienmarkt Beer Garden nearby to experience the Bavarian beer culture, relaxing with a tasty brew and a snack while watching the world go by for an authentic look at daily life in the Bavarian capital. Afterwards, you’ll have time at your leisure to do some more exploring on your own or relax in your hotel.
Day 10 Departure
This morning, your adventure through Berlin, Bavaria and the Black Forest comes to an end. After checking out of your hotel, you’ll be met by your private driver for transfer to Munich International Airport. Catch your flight to continue more exciting travels or return home, taking your memories, and lots of great photos, with you.
